We ran a competition to design our wonderful logo! The competition was launched on Earth Day 22nd April 2021 and was open to the Pacific region. The winning prize was NZ$1,000. The closing date for entries was 24th June 2021 and the winner was announced 24th July 2021. The Rules and Guidelines for the competition can be found here.
The winner of our competition is Rachael Suliana, an aircraft engineering student who hails from Fiji. Rachael's design includes a
coral and turtle which represent the vulnerability of ocean life as well as the wide range of ocean ecosystems from coral reefs to the open ocean across which a turtle migrates. The yellow, pear colour in the logo represents life, freshness, prosperity, balance and rebirth. The green invokes healing and care. The logo may also be presented in blues representing the colours of the ocean.

My name is Rachael Rose Suliana and I am from the beautiful island of Rotuma with maternal links to Nailaga in Ba. I am a university student currently studying Aircraft Engineering at Fiji National University here in Namaka, Nadi.
I dare to dream of being a female chief engineer, unfortunately an infrequent scene in the aviation field here but not impossible. When I’m not dreaming and stressing about my studies, I do enjoy a good book now and then, I’m also quite the foodie so baking is also a passion of mine while on some rare occasion I try some cooking recipes when I can force myself to stick to the recipe and not go full on Gorden Ramsay and failing. I do love listening to music and doing little small scale DIY crafts. Traveling is something I would love to do full time after I was lucky enough to go on a trip to the yasawa islands and fell in love with the ocean on my very first snorkeling tour.
During this pandemic, as difficult as it has been on everyone, I can say it has given me a chance to relook at life in a new perspective. It has given me time to grow and hone other areas in my life that I may have overlooked in my pursuit of wanting to make something of myself in this fast moving world. I am happy because this allowed me to participate in the Moana Foundation logo competition and I knew that I would love to be part of this foundation after reading about them online. I am ever so grateful that someone like me with no experience or qualification except a love for the ocean was even considered. I would like to thank the many people in my life from family and friends that made this all possible especially my sister who took my drawing and idea and put it on the screen. I would also like to really thank Moana Foundation for their faith in me and I pray that all your good works will bring forth many blessings.
With that I would just like to say if you love it, then pursue it. You never know
